Why choose our Poultry Feeder Twin Pack?

As backyard chicken keepers, we found that none of the Feeders we could buy addressed the problems of feed waste, rats and mice, or feed getting wet. So we set about creating a Chicken Feeder that did. The result was the Dine a Chook Poultry Feeder.

The Dine a Chook Poultry Feeder is the result of years of testing in backyard chicken coops, plus millions of dollars of design, engineering, injection molding and tooling equipment. It is a Chicken and Poultry Feeder that addresses common problems in the chicken coop. And it is not just us saying it! Over 50,000 backyard chicken keepers globally have invested in Dine a Chook Poultry Feeders for their henhouses. We sell our Feeders to Australia, NZ and the UK. Thanks to the global success of Dine a Chook hen feeders, we now ship throughout the USA from our warehouse in Solana Beach, California.

The modern Dine a Chook chicken feeding system is made of UV stabilized, ASA industry-grade plastic. ASA plastic is exceptionally robust and durable. We use this as it can withstand the harshest elements. Rust and parts which fatigue are a thing of the past. Our Feeders will not rust and have no moving parts that will break or wear out. A genuine Dine a Chook Automatic Feeder will outperform and outlast all others.

Poultry Health

Start with feed type: To keep your hens in top shape, you should use a complete feed. Top feed companies work with poultry industry to develop complete feeds that are scientifically formulated to satisfy the nutritional demands of laying hens. Complete feeds come as a pellet or mash and ensure your laying hens get all the vitamins, minerals, and protein they need from their diet.

Chickens, by nature, will play with their feed and throw it around, causing waste. The unique design of the Dine a Chook Feeder prevents chickens from raking or thrashing the feed, keeping it inside the Feeder. This reduces waste and saves you money!

If you use a seed or grain mix, chickens will only eat what they like and leave the rest. You may have noticed this happen with your flock and been frustrated by the feed waste costing you money. You can use seed and grain mix feed with a Dine a Chook Feeder, but our waste-reducing features function best with a pellet or mash feed.

Help prevent feed contamination: Chickens walk through their droppings when they forage for food. Diseases can spread quickly through the flock if this contamination ends up in their feed or water, so it vital to keep dirty feet out of the chicken feed. Unlike troughs and treadle feeders, a chicken can’t put its feet in the Dine a Chook feed hopper. Our unique hopper design only lets the chicken's head enter the feeding bay. As such, it prevents contamination of the feed.

Prevent moldy feed: Our patented design stops rain coming back under the front lip of the hood, keeping the feeding bay dry in all weathers. Plus the design is water-tight! Wet feed is a top cause of mold, fungi and bacteria in the chicken feed. This can cause illness in the flock, so wet feed must be discarded. By keeping feed dry, our Feeder once again proves its strength in feed waste reduction.

Say goodbye to feed waste.

As we mention throughout the website, our primary focus was to engineer a Chicken Feeder that was unmatched in durability, reliability, and functionality.

Frankly, almost every other Feeder that claims to reduce waste doesn’t come close to a Dine a Chook. Indeed, every aspect of our unique feed hopper is made to stop food wastage. For this reason, not only will our Feeder stop feed from getting wet, but it also stops feed ending up on the ground. No other hanging feeder, treadle feeder, or tube pipe feeder can compare.

Stop feed waste on the coop floor: Save money instantly. With other feeders, chickens play and flick their food, and this ends up on the ground. That’s money out of your pocket on the ground.

With inspiration from farm silos, Dine a Chook has changed the world of backyard chicken and poultry keeping. The feed hopper houses a unique vertical and horizontal anti-thrash system. Combined with the angular throat of the hopper, it is almost impossible for hens to rake feed out. So say goodbye to spending hard-earnt money which ends up on the ground as waste.

No more wet feed: While a few have tried, none can match the Dine a Chook patented rain hood and gutter shield protection system. Honestly, it is the best. The hood deflects even the heaviest rain while the gutter shield system stops drips blowing back inside the hopper. So unless the rain flies horizontally, our Feeder ensures the feed stays dry and fresh.

Dine a Chook deters rats and rodents

The Dine a Chook Chicken Feeder helps to prevent rodent problems in the chicken coop.

The main attractant for rats and mice in a chicken coop is easy access to food. By keeping chicken feed in the Feeder and off the ground, the Dine a Chook Poultry Feeder removes the number one attraction for rodents.

Correctly installed, a Dine a Chook Feeder is also more difficult for rodents to access than many other feeder types, thanks to the height from the ground and the rain hood, further deterring vermin.

If you have a rat problem, a good management plan for your coop is essential. Part of this plan should be a Dine a Chook waste-reducing Feeder that keeps feed off the ground.

How to use our Poultry Feeder Twin Pack

Installing a Dine a Chook feeder system in your coop is so simple. We include everything you need to install onto timber or metal surfaces.

To mount your Chicken Feeders on a wire cage, we recommend that you purchase additional Wire Mesh Mounting Kits with your Feeders to save yourself a trip to the hardware store.

Tools you may require:

If you plan to install your feeder onto a timber or steel post, you will require a drill and Phillips head drill bit. Depending on the surface, you may also need a drill bit to pre-drill the screw holes.

Position your Feeder so that the feeding bay hole is positioned no higher than the neck of your smallest hen. If you have very small hens or a mixed flock, you can also place a brick or small step in front of the Feeder. Then the Feeder can be mounted at a greater height but smaller birds can still feed. Always monitor birds after installing your Feeder to ensure all birds can access the feed. Mounting the Feeder high can help deter rodents.

Installing on rigid cage wire

Although the rear mounting hooks do allow you to mount your Feeder directly onto wire mesh, this is not recommended. In order to meet Warranty conditions for the mounting hooks, please install all Feeders using the steel brackets provided. Wire Mesh Mounting Kits can be purchased to allow you to install your Feeder on cage wire using the steel brackets provided, thus meeting Warranty conditions.

Installing on timber or metal posts

Mark out the positions for the brackets we include, using the position of the rear mounting hooks on the Feeder body as a guide. For hard materials, pre-redrill the screw holes before screwing the brackets into place. For softer woods, screw the brackets into place directly using a Phillips head drill bit. Ensure the brackets fit snugly to the top of both mounting hooks. It really can’t be any easier.

So why are you waiting? Besides buying the world’s best Chicken and Poultry Feeder, you also receive free shipping to any destination on the USA mainland.
