Yes. These are authentic, German-manufactured Lubing Drinker Cups — the same cups used in our Dine-A-Chook systems. We include a Dine-A-Chook float upgrade for each cup to ensure a higher water level and automatic refill.
2. How do I install these into a DIY chicken drinker?
For a secure, leak-free installation, we recommend using a 9mm drill bit and tapping the hole with a 1/8" BSPF thread tap. For best results, use thread tape and a rubber O-ring to create a watertight seal.
3. Do I need any special parts or accessories?
To ensure a leak-free setup, we recommend using quality rubber O-rings and standard thread seal tape. A dedicated USA link to our O-ring pack will be available soon.
4. What type of water system is compatible?
Lubing Cups are designed for low-pressure, gravity-fed watering systems. Do not connect them to high-pressure hoses or mains water. For DIY systems, we recommend water containers no higher than 35cm (13.8") from the cup base to minimize head pressure.
5. Why is water pressure important?
These cups operate using a float-triggered valve. Excessive water pressure from elevated tanks or sealed systems can cause leaks or constant dripping. Low-pressure gravity-fed designs work best to avoid overflow and maintain proper refill function.
6. Will my chickens know how to use the cups?
Yes. Most chickens instinctively drink from the Lubing Cups without training. You can tap the float gently to release water if needed — curious hens will figure it out quickly.
7. Can these cups be used in all climates?
Yes. Lubing Cups are suitable for most environments, but they are not heated. In freezing climates, indoor or insulated setups are recommended to prevent ice buildup.
